Aberdeen Beach saved!

The long-term future of Aberdeen Beach is now secure after Rhona Brankin, the Deputy Minister for Environment, visited Aberdeen to announce Executive support for an efficient and environmentally sustainable scheme to safeguard the golden sand. The beach recharge scheme, which follows the Save Our Sands campaign by the Evening Express, will see sand from Montrose Basin used to replenish sand levels at Aberdeen Beach.

Lewis Macdonald said: "I was delighted that Rhona Brankin came Aberdeen to make an announcement on the Aberdeen Beach Recharge Scheme. This is just what is required to secure the long term future of the Beach. I am very pleased that the Minister pressed Aberdeen City Council to come up with a scheme that is economically and environmentally sustainable."
