Chimney falls to make way for new Tillydrone housing

Responding to the demolition of the chimney at the site of the former Donside Paper Mill scheduled tomorrow (Thursday, 20 April 2006) at around 1.30pm, local MSP Lewis Macdonald and local MP Frank Doran commented on the development of 365 affordable homes on the site.

Lewis Macdonald said: "I am delighted at the plans for 365 affordable homes and associated community facilities on this site and am pleased that Communities Scotland has funded £11 million of the development costs"

"It is important that affordable housing is built in communities like Tillydrone to enable young people to get a foot on the property ladder. This development shows the Labour-led Scottish Executive’s commitment to regenerating communities"

Aberdeen North MP Frank Doran said: "This development will represent the first major housing led area regeneration project in Aberdeen for some time, and I hope that this investment will form part of a whole regeneration of Tillydrone."
