Aberdeen Supporting Growth

City Councillors voted in favour of extending the runway at Aberdeen airport. The extension will enable larger aircrafts, capable of long haul flights, to fly to and from Aberdeen.

Speaking on the issue Lewis said: 'The growing number of direct flights from Aberdeen airport has been one of the success stories of Scottish air travel in recent times. I look forward to this continuing, I am certain that the vast majority of the people I represent would welcome this decision to extend the runway at Aberdeen airport, offering an even greater choice for air travellers from the North East. At the same time reducing the need for connecting flights via Heathrow, we need to see further progress on reducing the carbon footprint of air travel by increasing the attractiveness and efficiency of rail travel to destinations right across Britain'.
