Macdonald welcomes Council climbdown on Don Crossing
Aberdeen Central MSP Lewis Macdonald has welcomed today's council decision to drop the proposed third Don Crossing from the city's local development plan.

`I am glad that Administration councillors have taken the advice of council officials to drop this proposal from the Local Plan,` he said. `This is a victory for local people who do not want a new road driven through their community. As the public inquiry on the Local Plan concluded, the proposed road would be bad news for Tillydrone and neighbouring areas, but would bring no net benefit for commuters or in reducing congestion.

`The Administration running the council should now concentrate their energies on sorting out the Haudagain roundabout and improving public transport. They should finally remove the threat to the local community by announcing they will not pursue their discredited proposals for a bridge at Tillydrone any further.`
