Mr Fergusson is to carry out a number of meetings across the constituency to talk to local people and groups about the parliament's engagement and how public engagement can be improved. As part of the visit to the city, the Presiding Officer will meet residents from the Tillydrone community, who have over the last 6 months been actively engaged in the political process both locally and at Holyrood. Lewis Macdonald said: 'I am pleased that the Presiding Officer is coming to Aberdeen Central as part of his programme of visits across Scotland and I am delighted that he has decided to visit Tillydrone to hear first hand from residents about their engagement with local and national government. 'I am sure the Tillydrone community will have a lot to say about recent decisions that affect their area and their involvement with the Scottish Parliament.' During the visit Mr Fergusson will also hear from Tillydrone Community Council member Ross Grant (aged 20), about the work the community is doing to build on their links with the town of Kamuli town in Uganda. The Minister of St George's Church, Rev Jim Weir, members of the congregation and the wider community have been busy filling a large shipping container, scheduled for departure in the autumn, with all sorts of clothing, toys and equipment. Lewis Macdonald said: 'It is extremely encouraging to see the community work together to support disadvantaged people elsewhere in the world. 'Jim Weir and his congregation have been working tirelessly on this project, which is a fantastic example of solidarity between urban communities in very different parts of the world. 'I am sure the Presiding Officer will be very interested in the campaign and encouraged by the way people in a relatively disadvantaged community in Scotland have worked together to assist those most in need.'
